Coastal Cues renews an 1896 Shingle Style home on the Manchester-by-the-Sea waterfront, preserving the character that comes with more than a century of use. Uneven floors, familiar creaks, and original details remain part of the experience, while carefully planned updates make the house work more naturally for contemporary family life.
The redesigned kitchen opens to the great room, bringing more light and connection to the home’s primary gathering spaces. An oriel window and built-in bookcases draw on the craftsmanship of the original architecture, while the reworked side porch provides a quiet place to take in the waterfront each morning.
Completed over two years, the renovation pairs historic details with lighting and furnishings chosen to reflect the family’s appreciation for global artistry. Coastal Cues was featured in Northshore Home magazine’s “Modern Touches Enhance an Historic Home on the Manchester Waterfront.”
