Completed in 2010, the Capsugel laboratory and office fit-out in Cambridge brings chemistry laboratories and corporate workspace into one connected environment. Designed by OLSON LEWIS + Architects and built by The Richmond Group, the project uses transparency and daylight to create stronger visual connections between research and the workplace.
Open office areas and workstations with sliding glass doors reduce visual barriers while maintaining spaces for focused work. Within the laboratories, bright white cabinetry, integrated shelving, and glass partitions create a clean, organized setting for research. Interior windows allow employees and visitors to see scientific work from the main circulation areas while maintaining the separation required by controlled laboratory spaces.
Warm materials in the shared workplace balance the crisp laboratory finishes, helping the administrative and research areas feel like parts of the same organization rather than separate environments.
