As Foundation Medicine grew beyond its startup space, OLSON LEWIS + Architects transformed 27,000 sf across two floors in Cambridge into an integrated laboratory and workplace. The research areas support chemistry, tissue culture, DNA extraction, and sequencing, while the office spaces give teams room to work independently and together.
A central communicating stair links the two floors and anchors the shared circulation. Open offices, flexible workstations, and informal seating provide different settings for focused work and conversation. Conference rooms, a seminar space, and a kitchen support larger meetings and daily interaction.
The adaptable facility gave Foundation Medicine room to grow while supporting its precision medicine research and the teams behind it.
