Atlantic Tele-Network’s 7,050 sf office at the Cummings Center gave the growing telecommunications company more room without losing the character of its former Derby Street warehouse in Salem. Brick-toned accents recall the exposed masonry of the original office, while cherry floors, collected antiques, and patterned rugs bring warmth to the reception, boardroom, and executive areas.
Located directly off reception, the boardroom uses full-height butt-jointed glass with a frosted privacy pattern. A built-in window bench provides additional seating without the raised second tier often found in boardrooms. In conference rooms beneath the building’s dormers, perimeter uplighting emphasizes the high ceilings and fills the spaces with reflected light.
Support workstations pair low panels and upper glass with integrated storage towers, preserving views across the office. Sidelights at perimeter offices bring daylight deeper into the floorplate. Completed in 2008 with Cummings Properties, the project had a construction cost of $1.6M, including furniture.
