Completed in 2004, the Eyetech Pharmaceuticals R&D Facility is a 46,700 sf design-build fit-out in Lexington. Designed by OLSON LEWIS + Architects and built by The Richmond Group, the $5.2M project established new research, laboratory, and corporate headquarters during a period of rapid growth ahead of the FDA approval of Macugen.
The plan organizes research laboratories and corporate offices as distinct but connected zones. Flexible casework, overhead service carriers, and accessible utility pathways allow the laboratories to adapt as research protocols change. Glass partitions bring daylight into the office areas and create visual connections among open workspaces, meeting rooms, and private offices.
Mechanical systems provide 100 percent single-pass outside air to the chemical and biological laboratory areas while maintaining the required pressure relationships. Cleanroom interfaces, epoxy flooring, seamless wall systems, and chemical-resistant finishes support containment, cleaning, and daily laboratory operations.
