OLSON LEWIS + Architects partnered with Saginaw County to plan a new 22,840 sf animal shelter and adoption center while keeping existing services in operation. The two-phase approach places the first portion of the new facility beside the existing 8,380 sf building, allowing staff to continue caring for animals throughout construction.
After the new animal care and adoption spaces open, Phase 2 removes the original facility and completes the project with an education center and fully equipped veterinary clinic. The design brings efficient staff workflows, compassionate care environments, and welcoming public spaces together within one connected facility.
