The Ipswich YMCA expansion brings aquatic recreation, fitness, and wellness education together in a more inclusive community facility. Completed in 2016, the project adds the Institution for Savings Aquatic Center, with a heated outdoor pool, three 25-yard lap lanes, an accessible entry ramp, a waterslide, and a Project Adventure course suspended over the deep end. A 2,600 sf sprayground provides water play and climbing features within clear view of the pool.
Inside, new adult locker rooms with a steam room allow the former changing areas to be repurposed for boys and girls. A fitness studio supports yoga, tai chi, and other low-impact exercise, while a flexible multipurpose room accommodates senior wellness and disease-management programs. Together, the improvements give the YMCA more ways to support recreation, education, and social connection across ages and abilities.
