Set along Route 133 in the heart of Essex's marshland, Marshview Farm General Store is now open, welcoming neighbors, CSA members, and visitors into a space shaped by the land and the people who work it.
For owners Tami Paumier and Glen Warren, the store extends what they've been building at Marshview Farm, a 500-acre historic property in Ipswich they purchased in 2016. What began as a commitment to stewarding the land has grown into a working agricultural operation, supported by Farm Manager Jamie Barrett and a CSA program launched in 2020 that now serves roughly 220 members. The general store builds on that momentum, giving the farm's produce, prepared foods, and seasonal goods a year-round home.
The store opened this past fall after several years of planning. Inside, Marshview Farm's own produce and prepared foods sit alongside pantry staples, wine, local craft beer, and goods from regional makers including Grassy Roots, Down River Ice Cream, and Bonny Breads.
More than a place to shop, the general store was envisioned as a gathering space. Programming throughout the year includes wreath-making workshops, wine tastings, and vendor collaborations that introduce neighbors to the food and craft of the North Shore.
Hours follow the rhythm of the farm. In winter, the store is open Thursdays; in warmer months, hours expand to five days a week. The owners are also considering a future rear expansion that could include a coffee bar and additional seating, giving guests more reason to linger.
For OLSON LEWIS + Architects, the project is a study in authentic design: spaces that feel true to their owners, their users, and their setting. In Essex, that meant supporting a vision grounded in local agriculture and regional collaboration. The goal was straightforward: help Marshview Farm share its harvest, year-round, with the people who walk through the door.
Marshview Farm General Store is open. It's a Beautiful Place, made for gathering.
