It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Randy Lewis

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of H. Randolph (Randy) Lewis. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Saturday morning, May 20th, 2017.

Randy was an avid musician and played a mean banjo. His love of music, science, engineering and architecture all shared his life-long pursuit of the intersection between balance, discipline and improvisation, rigor and originality. Randy was unfailingly positive, gracious and appreciative to the end, and he will be greatly missed by all of us.

Randy and John Olson graduated together from Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1968. They combined drafting tools in 1980 and opened the doors to the firm that became Olson Lewis Architects. Starting with labs at Harvard University, Randy developed a practice ranging from cutting-edge biotechnology and life sciences specialists to academic institutions.

Randy retired from the firm in 2015 to spend more time with family. He was simultaneously battling cancer which became more aggressive some weeks ago and sadly ended his life prematurely.
