Inside Vaisala’s New Burlington Headquarters: Precision Lab Design Meets Workplace Wellness

Vaisala, a global environmental and industrial measurement pioneer, has officially opened its new U.S. headquarters in Burlington, MA. Known for their mission to “take every measure for the planet,” Vaisala’s work supports critical advances in weather, climate, and industrial monitoring—and now, their U.S. operations have a new home in a space designed to match that mission in both form and function.

OLSON LEWIS + Architects led the design and delivery of this 28,000-square-foot fit-out within GenLabs’ premier life science campus. This new facility includes highly specialized ISO-17025 and NIST-compliant calibration laboratories, reinforcing Vaisala’s leadership in the precision measurement of humidity, temperature, and pressure.

Integrating such complex technical requirements into an existing commercial structure required a thoughtful, experienced approach. Our team designed laboratory environments that uphold the highest accuracy and reliability standards while also creating a modern, flexible workplace. The design includes open office areas, support spaces, and employee-centered amenities such as access to a fitness center, café, and collaborative zones, ensuring the space supports productivity and well-being.

“Seth Morrissey was our principal architect. He and his team were very capable and easy to work with,” shared Yani Bettencourt, Vice President, Industrial Measurements Americas at Vaisala.

This project demonstrates OLSON LEWIS + Architects’ capability to craft highly technical spaces without sacrificing warmth, usability, or design integrity. It’s a testament to our commitment to authentic, client-driven solutions—spaces where excellence meets sincerity.
