The Sonesta Beach Resort & Casino opens in Sharm El Sheikh, on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. The resort realizes the firm's Red Sea hospitality work from the start of the decade, set on Naama Bay above some of the Red Sea's finest diving. It carries the Sonnabend family's Sonesta brand, and the firm's founding client relationship, onto the international stage.
